Sixes

4 players, 3 six-hole matches — new partners every 6 holes.

Sixes — also called Round Robin, Hollywood or 6-6-6 — splits the round into three six-hole matches and shuffles the partners each time. By the 18th you'll have played with everyone in the group and against everyone too, which is why it's the go-to game when the foursome is uneven.

The rotation

Take the four players in order. Six holes with the first partner, six with the second, six with the third:

  • Holes 1–6 — you + player 2 vs players 3 + 4
  • Holes 7–12 — you + player 3 vs players 2 + 4
  • Holes 13–18 — you + player 4 vs players 2 + 3

How it's scored

Each stretch is its own match: the lower team score wins the hole, a tie halves it, and whoever won more holes takes the six. A stretch is worth the stake to each winner, paid by each loser — so a clean sweep of all three is a real day. A tied stretch pays nothing.

Example

$5 a stretch. You and Dave win the first six 3–2 (+$5 each from Mike and Sam). The middle six is halved. Mike and Sam take the last six (−$5). You finish level for the day at even money.

  • The rotation is set from the order you pick the golfers, and shown before you create the bet so there's no argument later.
  • Prefer to choose? Set the teams for any six yourself — on the New bet screen or on the bet card mid-round — and the rest stay on the rotation. Playing the same partner twice is allowed.
  • A stretch closes out early once a side is up more holes than are left, same as match play.
  • Pick how a team scores a hole: best ball (only the better partner counts) or combined (both scores add up, so one blow-up costs the hole). Combined swings much harder.
  • Handicaps are optional. Everyone plays off the lowest handicap in the bet, so the best player gives shots rather than everyone taking them.
  • Because a stretch is won hole by hole, each stroke lands on a specific hole — the hardest ones, if you've entered the card's stroke index on the scorecard. Without it, strokes spread evenly across the round.
  • Supports presses — manual or automatic at N down. A press covers the holes left in that six and settles with it, so losing the first stretch 3 down doesn't have to follow you to the 7th tee. How presses work →
