Wolf

4 players, a new captain ("the Wolf") every hole who picks teams.

Wolf is a 4-player game where the teams change every hole. Each hole one player is the Wolf, and the strategy of when to go it alone is what makes it fun.

How it works

  • The four players take turns being the Wolf, rotating in order.
  • The Wolf tees off last and watches everyone's drive.
  • Then the Wolf either picks a partner (2-v-2) or goes Lone Wolf (1 against 3, for double).
  • Low ball wins the hole; a tie wins nobody anything.

Scoring

Play for a per-hole point. In a 2-v-2 each winner wins the stake and each loser pays it. Going Lone, the Wolf plays all three opponents at double — win and you collect from all three (a big swing); lose and you pay them all. It's zero-sum, so it always nets out to who owes who.

Example

At $2 a point you're the Wolf and go Lone. You make par, everyone else bogeys. You win 2× from all three (+$12); each of them is −$2.

In GimmeTab

  • Needs exactly 4 players and hole-by-hole scores.
  • The app handles the rotation, doubling, and running tally — each hole you just tap whether the Wolf went Lone or who they partnered with.
  • House variants like Blind Wolf or "the Pig" aren't tracked — stick to the core game above.
